I am very exited at the thought of doing an Internship for 3 weeks in the real world. At the moment, in this stage of my life the medical field, particularly EMS and Paramedics. I don't have any concerns about Link, besides that fact that it may be babied down and I wont get to see the gnarly side of this job. Otherwise I think it will be very good for me to see if this is where I want to put my energy into this field or if I end up not liking it at all. I have already had a meeting with my career counselor and have gotten contact information for the Durango Fire Department, and my next step will be to contact them.
Winter Update ~
I have met with Scott Sholes, the chief of the Durango Fire Department. My LINK Internship has been confirmed and I am very exited to learn more about this field that I love very much. Now, until LINK I just need to began thinking on my LINK project and what I will do during my free time that I am not mentored at the department. Fire Fighting and the Medical world has seemed to be part of my life for longer than I realized. I was born with a bleeding disorder, so my entire life I’ve spent a lot of time in the ER, from scrapes on the knee, to broken bones, as I was a very active child. I know how it feels to be the patient. This sparked a passion in me to go into this field, having a perspective from the other side. I want to give back and help people, as people before have helped me.
